American Apparel is stirring up controversy once again. The American leisurewear company, which only recently had to pay out money to Woody Allen after a US court ruled they used his image illegally, has been ordered to withdraw an advert featuring a 23-year-old girl. The series of six photographs shows her wearing a hoodie which unzips lower in each image, including one in which her nipple is partially exposed.
The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ordered the ad, which appeared on the back cover of Vice magazine, to be withdrawn, following just one complaint, because the image “could be seen to sexualise a model who appears to be a child”.
In response, American Apparel issued a statement saying the model is a 23-year-old adult, and that the image was “appropriate” to the publication. It continued, “American Apparel will continue to express itself through photography, art and design as the company grows in the UK. Although it does not seek to offend anyone, it recognises that some minor discomfort may occasionally accompany process of questioning various beauty norms and standards within the fashion industry.” Continue
While most bloggers don’t lead the most glamorous lives, WhoWhatWear.com creators creators, Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power celebrated the launch of their style guide, Who What Wear: Celebrity and Runway Style for Real Life with trend-setting celebs like Jessica Alba, Lauren Conrad, and Emma Roberts at Sunset Towers in Hollywood. While some celebs got their hair and makeup done by Maybelline and Garnier, Conrad, clad in BCBGeneration, took time to flip through the new book. Alba, on the other hand, twirled in her Prada dress to tunes spun by Samantha Ronson. But, Alba did stop to chat with PEOPLE about why she was there. “I check out the site every other day,” she said. “They cut all the B-S out. I can go there to find out what the latest trend is.” Those trends, according to Power, include, “winter shorts and leather leggings,” for the fall season. “I’ll be wearing my leather leggings the most,” she said. To debut their luxe cosmetics brand, The Makeup, Dolce & Gabbana would settle for nothing less than one of Hollywood’s modern muses. And when it came time to launch their new scent Rose The One, they turned again to Scarlett Johansson, and are sharing with PEOPLE.com the sultry star’s print campaign. The actress couldn’t be happier with the appropriately rose-hued results, which were shot by Jean Baptiste Mondino, explaining in a statement that Mondino and designers “capture all of a woman’s graces, our quiet moments. That to me, is what makes this campaign so special, and it feel wonderful to have been a part of the collaboration.” The floral fragrance, which is the final launch in The One trilogy of scents for the Italian designers, will debut next month with prices starting at $60 for a 30 ml eau de parfum spray. Tell us: What do you think of Scarlett’s sexy campaign?
Sienna Miller has had quite the summer. She admitted she’s lazy when it comes to personal hygiene, she called a radio-host a douche-bag and she started dating a DJ with douchebag name: Slinky Wizard is no Balthazar Getty.
But as much as people hate on the blond Brit, you gotta admit she looked like a polished party princess at Vogue’s The September Issue premiere. We’d never want to mimic her outlook on men or showering, but here’s how to get Sienna’s stylish look for less:
Forever 21’s Luster Party Dress ($27.80) has the same bubble hem as Sienna’s Thakoon mini. But the lightly padded bust helps out the girls while the adjustable straps make sure they don’t have their own paparazzi moment.

Chandelier earrings bring Sienna’s signature bohemian vibe to any outfit. The two-tone metal discs on KH Studio Designs earrings ($40) mean you don’t have to worry about mixing silver and gold accessories.
Sienna Miller certainly stood out as she arrived at a press event to promote her new film today.
Sadly, it was for all the wrong reasons as she graced the red carpet for the premiere of new film GI Joe: Rise Of The Cobra in a flashy sequin suit.
There was something distinctly snakelike about her sequinned Gucci suit, teamed with midnight blue lurex shirt, and peep-toe platform boots.
Sparkling: Sienna Miller stands out on the red carpet in her sequinned suit by Gucci as she promotes GI Joe: Rise Of The Cobra in Japan
But overall, the Gucci Exit 49 silver and iridescent black embroidered suit was unfortunately more reminiscent of a television game show host.
Perhaps she had learnt her lesson from the London press call, where her thin white shirt was doused in water as she sped along the Thames in a speedboat.
But this time Sienna needn’t have worried. There was no water in sight as she arrived at the red carpet event in Tokyo, Japan.
Instead she was met by a sea of fans, all calling out for a picture with the 27-year-old, and her autograph.
Sister act: Sienna was joined by her fashion designer sister Savannah
The actress’ co-stars stuck to the more usual red carpet wear, with Rachel Nichols wearing a red floor-length gown.
In the film, Sienna plays The Baroness, a former European aristocrat who turns against the U.S. government after she witnesses the death of her brother.
She joins G.I. Joe’s nemesis Cobra Organization as Director of Intelligence and soon becomes romantically involved with the firm’s main villain Destro, played by former Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston.
The actress put on five pounds of muscle after going on a four month fitness and training programme in a bid to bulk up for the movie.
When Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon 40 years ago, they set off a style revolution—one small step for man, one giant leap for fashionkind.
On July 20, 1969, NASA astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, and Michael Collins successfully completed the Apollo 11 mission: They landed on the moon. Post-Sputnik, this was viewed as the ultimate triumph in the space race.
Georgia Jagger leads a charmed life. The 17-year-old model possesses a potent combination of famous parents (Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall), stunning good looks, and celeb offspring boyfriend (Django James, son of Dave Stewart) the fashion world just can’t ignore. And she’s about to become very, very famous. As well as starring in the new Hudson jeans campaign (wearing nothing save a pair of battered strides, a tousled blonde mop and a come-hither look), she’s also featured in a double page spread in the August issue of French Vogue styled by Carine Roitfeld - the ultimate nod of It Girl approval. With access to her mum’s fabulous wardrobe, and her trademark scarlet pout, we can’t help but feel she’s about to become a fashion fixation.
